Formed in 1970, Mabou Mines is a theatrical collective born out of the conceptual art movement, performance art and minimalist music in particular. Darlings of the theater world, Mabou Mines is beloved by audiences, presenters, critics and academia alike. As one of the founding director’s Ruth Maleczech said, the company characteristically has “One [production] in development, one on the road, and one trying to sneak in the door ahead of its time.”

The primary objective of the site was to showcase the breadth of Mabou Mines works by using a combination of photography, featured recordings, interviews and historical documentation to serve up and satisfy the various needs of their users. Features of the site include: 1) new wordmark, 2) the ability to promote new works and/or tour-ready works directly on the home page, 3) make the content easy to search, 4) provide access to historical materials, 5) incorporate new technologies using CMS to handle future updates.

The results are a sophisticated visual interpretation that captures the mood and tone of their works on stage.
